Attention CSI Members Needed:
On the left our class is working in the field on the
cemetery investigation. The QTVR is set to rotate
automatically. You can control it by placing a mouse on it and
holding down the click. Then you can look at anything you want. What did we
discover? More answers later! All QuickTime Virtual
Reality photos, digital photos, and movies are student produced
unless otherwise noted.
Our teachers, Mrs. La Mar, Mrs. Ferguson and Mrs.
Jenness
gave us a choice. "If you decide to join your unit will be assigned to investigate the disappearance of valuable information in your local cemetery. Is it a crime? Is it due to erosion, weathering, vandalism, and general neglect or….? This case now involves hundreds of investigation units across the country. Documentation is essential."
We decided to go for training at CSI
We would choose what we wanted to investigate and then put all of
our information together into a web site. Could we find answers and fully document our discoveries? We
needed tools and training. We divided into teams. Our
teams of photographers, scientists, mathematicians, writers, web
masters, parents, community members, researchers, editors, and
experts went to work. This is our story. |

Our assignment from the web quest was, "This is where your group of Cemetery Scientific Investigators (CSI) comes in! Your CSI Team will become scientific and historic investigators by investigating not only the headstones, the biographies of those buried, the flora, fauna, (bugs included), geology, topography, architecture and cemetery layout. Your tools will be numerous.
You will be documenting your local cemetery with the latest digital equipment including Ground Positioning
System (GPS) devices, video, and digital cameras. Your job will be to log specific information and photograph each headstone for analysis.
What will you do with all of your investigative data? You will be analyzing, organizing, and presenting it on your own web site as well adding parts to a national database. This is no simple headstone-rubbing visit to the cemetery! Get ready to break out the scientific gear and engage the problem-solving brain-waves!"
