Chinese Americans

Most of the young men from China came to San Francisco to try their luck in the gold fields. After the Gold Rush these men settled at "Big Camp" in Suisun Valley. Big Camp was a Chinese farm camp located on Hatch Ranch in Suisun Valley, near Solano Community College on Suisun Valley Road. Chan Tim was one of the Chinese settlers.

Chan Tim's headstone
Chan Tim left China because in China at that time people were starving and it was very hard to make much money. He chose to come to make money in California. When he died he was first buried near San Francisco, then his body was moved to China, and later his family brought it back to California and buried him in Rockville Cemetery.
