This is a teacher created section.  Although the initial "essential question" was teacher created the investigation, photographs, videos, QuickTime Virtual Reality, writing, and research is student driven and teacher/parent/community facilitated.

How did the kids put together this site?  This section takes you through the steps.

The creation of our web site has been an amazing process; one that has succeeded because many people worked together over a long period of time!

Preparation: Lesson Overview-- Ready.........set........go!

Our first step as teachers, is to align the local and state standards we had focused on in class.  This project was not add-on curriculum but it was a exercise in the ability of all students to utilize skills acquired in class and apply them to real life investigations for community service.

Our next step is to choose a location for study within our budget to reach.  Then we did advance research and project preparation.  Finally we design and "essential question" based on our research and resources.

Computers and multimedia are seamlessly woven into the curriculum.  It is important to provide a number of technology tools so that students can choose the right tool for the job.  Students develop and manage their own projects, with guidance from mentors and from the community.
