Scientific Name: Branta canadensis
Size: length: 16-25", wingspan: 50-68"
Weight: full grown can weigh 3-24lbs
Lifespan: 9-10 years
Physical Appearance: The Canada Goose has a plump body, a long neck, and webbed feet.
·Feathers: Their underparts vary in colour from light pearl-grey to chestnut, and even blackish brown. All the races have whitish cheek patches and a black head, crown, and neck.
· Neck: They have long necks.
Habitat: Each race prefers its own special habitat. The breeding ranges of various races are separated by well-defined natural barriers. High mountainous countries, glaciers, deserts, or heavily wooded and rocky country are unsuitable for nesting geese.
Diet: Herbivorous
· Main food source: plants
· Feeding time: early morning and late afternoon

Behavior: Canadian geese are especially known for their V-shaped flying formation during their spring and fall migration.They are capable of travelling thousands of miles at a time, day or night.
The male is very protective of his mate during nesting. He keeps an eye on it's nest even when it goes off to find food. It is always ready to chase away anything that comes near the nest.

Reproduction:
Nesting: Canadian geese usually build their nests on the ground near water. A site is chosen by the female with good visibility that allows her to see intruders approaching. Nests are commonly built on small islands, ponds and riverbanks and sometimes on muskrat and beaver houses. They have also been seen using the nests of other birds such as ospreys, hawks, owls and herons. If possible, a pair will nest in the same spot every year.
Eggs: cream colored

Incubation: 25-30 days
