Animal Rotations

QTVR Object Rotations

To add to the knowledge base of the Rush Ranch Project/Suisun Marshlands 3rd grade students collaborated with high school students to find evidence of additional animal life in the region.  Part of their work is here.  They also developed a website exclusively about Suisun wildlife and rehabilitation at

Suisun Wildlife Rehabilitation Center

1) In collaboration with the Suisun Marsh Wildlife Center and the Geo-Literacy Project, Fairfield High Multimedia students worked with skeletons of animals native to the Suisun Marsh.

2) Students used a simple lazy-susan turntable to spin the skull. The beginning point was marked to keep track of the pictures.

3) The paper underneath was marked every 22.5 degrees. Students rotated the turntable to the next mark after each shot to create 16 pictures of each skull.

4) During the first year students had to edit the pictures to remove the background. We used JASC Paintshop Pro and/or Adobe Photoshop 7.0. There are several other image editing programs available.

5) When all the pictures were edited, the students loaded the images into a program called VR Worx http://www.vrtoolbox.com   to create
an object movie of the skull. It is a simple 5-step process.
